Darnell Abraham -- who has been a member of the HAMILTON  “And Peggy” Tour in San Francisco since it opened earlier this year in Puerto Rico – will officially succeed Isaiah Johnson in the role of George Washington, it is announced today. 

Johnson’s final performance was Sunday, August 11 and Abraham will begin performances in San Francisco on Tuesday, August 13. 

A California native, select credits include The Color Purple revival (1st National Broadway Tour) and Ragtime (Barrington Stage Company and Ogunquit Playhouse)His professional performance background spans musical theater, soul music, R&B, and opera. As a result, he has been recognized by audiences and critics alike for his versatility in the theater and on the concert stage. Abraham is a recipient of the Berkshire Theatre Critics Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Musical and an Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) nomination for Best Actor. Other honorable nominations include BroadwayWorld Regional Awards for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor in a Musical.
